If this is vaudeville, we might be thankful it's dead.
Charitably, we can view this as a meditation on clowning, rather than clowning itself. "Meditation" is a suitable word, as this show is so slow, there is much time for thinking. Too much time.
Comedy, particularly physical comedy, has to be lightning-fast and seemingly effortless to be effective. Here, there are a few clever physical gags; but everything is done in near-slow-motion, which is fatal to comedy.
Four short (though interminable) sketches illustrate lackluster adventures of two characters, one dumb-as-paint, the other slightly smarter and manipulative. The performers -- George Lewis and David Taft, both Cornish teachers, here just corny --  love to strike grand poses, drag everything out like taffy, mug and exaggerate, underlining the "story of the clown."
A terrific idea, perhaps, but not terribly funny.
